Hello guys, welcome to this episode, Today we are going to discuss about mediocrity, in this day and age, surviving as a mediocre persone is like playing a video game on nightmare mode : you have little abilities and skills, and the enemies in front of you have the maximum difficulty, but in this episode I will try to share with you my experience as a "mediocre" person, not that I believe being someone mediocre, but in the current circumstances, I didn't find the motivation to be excellent. This is a user manual on mediocrity, it doesn't necessarily mean you are truly mediocre but I hope it will help
When you are mediocre in terms of skills, what you absolutely want to do immediately is to have a strong marketing : you know that your skills and motivation are not awesome, so you will emphasize on marketing and soft skills, for example you can but in your resume : Highly motivated - skilled enthusiastic - team worker, these key words will more emphasize on your soft skills rather than your hard skills, even if hard skills remain very important, especially if you are or are going to be into fields like engineering, STEM and computer science but I still recommand to show that you are skilled : this is marketing.
Sometimes, your mediocrity can truly be solved and you can improve your situation, this is why you should take a pen and mark down the key reasons why you are mediocre and how to solve these points, actually sometimes the cause can be changed, sometimes not but often you will remark that many reasons why you are mediocre can be solved, in my case the reaons of mediocrity were the following : urinary problems, pr0n addiction, and lack of interest in my job, that's all. If I were able to solve these problems I would definitely end mediocrity. But never blame yourself, try rather to first understand yourself, how your brain works, what is your behaviour, because you will notice a lot if key elements on you, and then try to solve these points so that you can escape mediocrity.
At work, you should always try to look busy and skilled, you should never tell your manager about any of your health problems, you should never tell them that you are depressed or sad because guess what ? They are going to use it against you, so you must remain totally silent about your personal problems because you are working on it and because your manager will fire you if they believe you are too weak. Be aware of that this can lead to terrible consequences. Your colleagues, your managers and the HR department are your worst enemies, not your friends. I know for some of you who don't understand it perfectly, you might say : yes but my colleague is very nice to me and often smiling, it is only for his own interest, but you know the true face of these people only when you have troubles or when you get fired.
When you are a mediocre person, you have to be loyal to yourself, abandon this idea of being loyal to other people, don't invent moral virutal engagements to society, you don't owe anything to other people. And believe me, when you know the true nature of people, a true nature that is written in their dna, you will withdraw youself form wars that are not yours, so if you have a new opportunity that is better, move for it, even if it has been only one months since your are at work, because on the other side, your boss will never hesitate a single second before firing you and then you will truly be under terrible difficulty.
If you can, move from job to job, don't stay more than 6 months in the same work and always prefer to work as a consultant, stay external this is fine. And the reason for that is very simple. In a company when you are here for less than six months, your manager and your colleagues don't know you very well and you are still something new for them, you are a new object so they don't have a precise idea on your productivity and your real skills so you can still play on this halo effect, where you try to look very skilled and motivated, even if this is not totally the reality, but this is definitely going to help. And so if you take a new job every six months, there are less risks to be fired because your manager will believe you are still learning the job and will give you additional time to be fully integrated. Always try to ask questions and challenge people around you so that you don't look to be doing nothing : it is better to look harrassing people than doing nothing. Also try to bring coherence in your resume, you don't necessarily need to put all of your missions because they might think that you move too much so try to keep a low number of different employers in your resume.
You have to release a little bit the pressure on yourself to orient it against your foes, you have to let your brain understand that you are not going to punish it in any way but rather improve its situation, for me this has helped me a lot to gain confidence in my ability to overcome my obstacles because when your brain understands that it will not be punished because not providing the motivation for doing the boring job, it will come back to you and help you. If everyone turns their back on you , you remain. May the winds of the resistance carry you in these truly dark times, may the storms of hope open you the gates of victory !
